Our Resurrection Information Technology team is asking for donations of used computers in good operating condition. Many of the office computers are aging and as a cost saving measure we strive to repurpose used computers whenever possible to meet the needs of our staff. Ideal computer donations would be 5 years or less (this may vary depending on the hardware computing power). 

 

As you may be aware, Microsoft has established more stringent hardware requirements for upgrading to Windows 11 compared to Windows 10. Several of our current computers do not meet the minimum requirements for Windows 11 and have other limitations due to age.

 

Computers which are selected for use at Resurrection will receive a fresh Windows 11 installation. Computers which cannot be used at Resurrection will be considered for other charitable donation opportunities or recycled appropriately if determined to be beyond useful lifespan.

Frequently Asked Questions:

• What will happen to any personal data that is on a donated computer?

  • The best option is for the owner to use the built-in Microsoft "Reset this PC" feature before making the donation. This will securely remove personal data while best preparing the computer for transfer and repurposing. Please be sure to backup any important personal data before resetting your computer.

• What if I am not sure whether my computer can run Windows 11?

  • Microsoft makes available a PC Health Check app which can be downloaded from https://aka.ms/GetPCHealthCheckApp. This app can inform the owner whether the computer meets the Windows 11 requirements.

  • The Resurrection team may still be able to utilize computers which do not meet these strict requirements.

• What types of computers or accessories are most needed?

  • Desktop computers are preferred - specifically the computer case along with power cord (some have standard cords, some are proprietary).

  • Laptop computers will be considered.

  • Apple computers will be considered.

  • Monitors, keyboards or mice in very good condition will be considered but are not first priority.
