St. Mary's (Our Lady of Sorrows) Parish, Palestine
Ministry Details
Our relationship with the parishioners of St. Mary's and the surrounding community located in the West Bank in Palestine began in 2004. Funds raised in the past have supported St. Mary’s summer youth camp, fixing the church bells, and rehabbing parishioner’s homes.
Aboud: Our Lady of Sorrows church is in Aboud, about an hour north of Jerusalem in the West Bank. Aboud means “worshipping” in Arabic. There are about 2,500 residents, about half of whom are Christians. Jesus is believed to have passed through Aboud on the Roman road from Galilee to Jerusalem. The town is known for its olive trees and grapes and has three olive oil processing plants.
We provide financial support through two poor box collections each year; educational opportunities for Resurrection parishioners to learn about the hardships of life in the West Bank; prayer support; political advocacy support as needed.
