Advent Collections

Who do we serve?

The poor and needy in Baltimore City through our partners: Happy Helpers for the Homeless, Our Daily Bread, The Franciscan Center, and the parish outreaches at St. Gregory, St. Veronica, and Corpus Christi Catholic Churches.

What do we do?

On each of three weekends, we collect NEW:  small stuffed animals, blankets, and sleeping bags; hats, scarves, and gloves; men's large and extra large shirts and sweaters.

PLEASE NOTE: since these are Christmas gifts, we only accept new items for this collection; used items can be donated in the St. Vincent de Paul donation box outside the Parish Center.

When do we do it?

Late November through mid December.

Where do we serve?

All outreach activities occur at Resurrection.

How can I get involved?

Contact Barbara Rieve: or look for specific details on the program in the bulletin in early November and on Resurrection Connections.

There are volunteer opportunities for service hours. Contact Barbara in early November to see what’s available.

Ministry History

The Advent Collections developed as an ancillary program to “Adopt-A-Family,” to provide an option for people who did not have the time or resources to adopt a family during the holidays. Now that the "Adopt a Family" program has changed to provide mostly gift cards, the Advent Collections are another way that parish families can shop together to buy items like stuffed animals and blankets for children in need.
