ValLimar sings a broad range of styles from traditional to contemporary. In 2005 she released her first solo collection, You Gotta Move. Other collections include Anointing, Psalms from the Soul and Give God the Glory. Her most recent collection, Spirit & Soul features popular contemporary songs from fellow Spirit & Song composers produced and sung with ValLimar's signature style. All collections are published by OCP and have received critical acclaim. Anointing received accolades, in 2008, winning Unity Awards for Best Album and Best Song of the Year.
ValLimar has a long history of singing sacred music, starting from the age of five. She received most of her training in music and performance from Howard University, in Washington, D.C. She holds professional degrees in the arts from California State University, San Bernardino, and the University of California, Santa Barbara.
She has sung and toured professionally throughout the United States, Switzerland, France, Germany, Belgium and Japan. She played the role of Beneatha with the Broadway touring cast in the European premier of Raisin. She went on to co-author a one-woman musical about the life of Ethel Waters that received a special commendation from the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
ValLimar has been a keynote speaker and/or presenter at: the Los Angeles Liturgy Conference; the East Coast Conference; the National Pastoral Musicians Conference; the National Jubilee Justice Conference; the National Conference for Catholic Youth Ministers; the National Catholic Educational Association Conference and many others major events. She has been the cantor (song leader) for numerous liturgies at the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress, as well as many other national and international conferences.
Today, ValLimar tours regionally, nationally and internationally as an inspirational speaker, an author, a storyteller, a psalmist, as song leader, a principal vocalist, and/or an emcee. She composes much of her music with the help of her husband, Frank. They live in California and have three children.
